Deep canvassing is a voter contact model that works to create mutual understanding grounded in lived experience, instead of in debate or talking points. This training will help you understand what deep canvassing is (and isn’t), where it comes from and the roots of it, key skills and components for success, and case studies around how it has been used successfully in the climate movement to-date.
In this session, participants will leave with:
An understanding of deep canvassing, and how it differs from traditional canvassing
An understanding on what makes the persuasive impact
Insight on an example conversation to understand how principles covered are applied in a conversation
An understanding of the structure and key skills needed for a successful deep canvassing conversation
An understanding of how its been used in the climate movement in the past, both successfully and unsuccessfully, and
Knowledge of the realities of building a successful deep canvassing program
